We only talk about "child abuse" when something is happening that the
child doesn't want or that ultimately is not good for the child's
physical (sometimes mental) health.

It's a good point you are making.  I had to put (sometimes mental)
into parenthesis, but I'm with you, I don't think that kind of "movie"
is necessarily a good thing for a child of 14, but at some point she
and her parents are responsible for what she can and cannot do.

We give people the freedom to make all kinds of mistakes here --
including this one.  It's part of the notion of "freedom" -- people
are free to go crazy.

After Heath Ledger killed himself, people said that the part of the
Joker for which he just won a SAG award, had put him in a bad mental
state and he took pills to try to get over it.  Of course, he was an
adult, and he doctor-shopped to get a variety of medicines that should
never have been mixed and then he became addicted and committed
suicide.

Let's hope Dakota Fanning handles her fame differently.
