We don't know if the ambassador will bring his 
(spous) with him. So how does it work? He has a wife and a (spouse) or what? 
Maybe Obama had looked into that, because US law does not allow 2 wives, but it 
might be easy with Wife + something else. Congratulations USA for these great

President Obama to nominate openly gay lawyer David Huebner as U.S. ambassador 
to New Zealand, Samoa
WASHINGTON  — President Barack Obama said Wednesday he planned to nominate an 
openly gay lawyer as the U.S. ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa.
If confirmed by the Senate, David Huebner
would become the third openly gay ambassador in U.S. history and the
first pick by this administration. In a statement released from the White 
House, Obama said he looked forward to working with Huebner and is confident he 
will represent the United States well in the Pacific region.

United States ambassador to New Zealand David Huebner is expected to arrive 
next week. 



  Mr Huebner is scheduled to meet US president Barack Obama
this weekend, before making his way to New Zealand. Mr Huebner was
recently appointed, saying he is honoured to work in the South Pacific.

Mr
Huebner, who would also serve as an ambassador to Samoa, is the third
openly gay ambassador in US history. He introduced his partner, Duane
McWaine, to the US Senate panel.

Based in Shanghai, he was head
of the China and international disputes practices at the law firm
Sheppard Mullin Richter and Hampton.

He has also served on law
and other commissions, lectured in legal and business areas, and was
active in the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

Mr Huebner is from Pennsylvania and a graduate of Princeton and Yale.
