If by chance your home is visited by people claiming to be Meralco
employees like as narrated below, kindly check with or inform our Call
Center Nos. 16211 or 631-1111 before allowing them to get inside your
premises. Normally, our people will ask permission to get inside the
house only if you are suspected to have illegal connection. And as SOP,
an official notice/ letter is served to the homeowner. The apprehending
team is composed of 2-3 people only for residential customers.
Subject: PRECAUTION on MERALCO MEN
Dear Friends,
Yesterday there were 5 men roaming around our neighborhood posing as
employees of MERALCO asking about our current billing. Apparently, they
wanted to get in, to check the appliances in every household to "verify"
the comsumption due to the impending increase of MERALCO in December.
Luckily, our yaya and lola did not allow these men to enter. We verified
this matter to MERALCO and asked whether they have men deployed to check
on the consumption of every household. MERALCO said these men are not
their emplyees.
These bogus MERALCO men are in blue shirtjack uniform complete with
MERALCO IDs, and can be mistaken for real MERALCO employees. They were very
persistent and they even said "di ba kyo nanghihinayan sa isang libo na
itatas sa bill nyo?", and offered to "fix" the consumption, obviously,
they wanted more than just to check on our appliances.
These are no ordinary men as they invested in uniform and I'm sure they
have standby vehicles nearby .
