Subject: WATCH OUT: 2008 Toyota Vios and Toyota Pasong Tamo
 
WARNING:
 
I would like to share my experience with all my co-employees.
 
I have been having trouble since I availed of my first car plan last
April 28, 2007. I chose and settled for a brand new 2007 Toyota Vios
which was purchased through the company's accredited dealer " TOYOTA
PASONG TAMO". I have noticed a slight unpleasant smell coming from the
air con vents on the first month. I reported this to the dealer's sales
account executive "Mr. Romel Ocampo ". He said to observe it more as it
is quite normal and since the smell pass away after a few minutes when
the air con is turned on. On the succeeding weeks, the unpleasant smell
becomes unbearable. The smell won't go away anymore, even when the air
con is running for a long time already. The cars interior now slowly
smells too. On July 23, I brought the car to TOYOTA PASONG TAMO to have
the air con problem check including some concerns on its brake and
clutch system. I also have the periodic maintenance done (change oil).
For specifics, the assigned Service Advisor was Mr. Chino Zamora. The
following day, I check the status of my car and have to go through the
hassle of looking for somebody who knows the status. Eventually, I was
able to get in touch with Mr. Romel and was advised to just call Ms.
Sheila. Ms Sheila said that my car is already done and that she can have
it delivered in the afternoon. When the car was delivered, I was upset,
as none of the problems I pointed out was done except for the change
oil, as the driver said he needs to collect payment. So, I did not
accept the car. I called back TOYOTA PASONG TAMO and look for Mr. Chino.
I learned from Ms. Sheila that Mr. Chino Zamora is on training and will
just transfer me to a new Service Advisor, Mr. Edwin Uytiengco. He said
he will double check on my car. On the 27th, I was advised that my car
is now ready for delivery. I was on field that time so I asked my wife
to get the car from Pasong Tamo and just pick me up when I return on the
28th. 
 
DON'T STOP NOW BUT THE WORSE IS YET TO COME.
 
As I take over the driving from my wife, I can't help but to get more
upset and angry. True, the bad odor is gone. BUT WHAT'S taken in its
place is the smell of an FABRIC SOFTENER "DOWNY". And mist /fog are
coming out of the air con vents. It was a Saturday afternoon, so I
wasn't able to call back the dealer at once. Upon checking my car the
following day, the dashboard is dirty, the carpet and front seats were
worst. It was tainted with oil stains. How do you think anybody would
feel and react to such!!!
 
First thing Monday, I called Romel and complained what they have done to
the car. I wasn't able to bring back the car to TOYOTA PASONG TAMO until
last August 3. I was introduced to Ms Juliet Tatoon, Customer Relations
Head, and was said that she will personally monitor the car's problem.
She led me to the same former Service Advisor, Mr. Chino Zamora, which
in turn filled up the routine Service Request Form. I told him the same
items as before plus an additional item, vibration coming from my
dashboard, which must have arose during the previous cleaning/washing of
my air con system. We even test drive the car for them to confirm my
complaints.
 
THIS IS THE MOST OUTRAGEOUSLY FUNNY PART!!!
 
On Aug 4, Mr. Chino Zamora called and reported that they have completed
adjusting the clutch and brake system but they need more time on the
air-conditioning system. He said that If my complain is the DOWNY smell,
they could wash it out away but the bad odor will most probably come
back. He further said that they have observed the same problem on other
VIOS unit they have serviced... OH MY GOD, if I could only describe the
outburst of words that I was able to tell him.
 
EVERYTHING IS WRONG!!!
 
1)   For a three month old car, the aircon evaporator and filters must
still be clean and on top condition.
2)   You do not use a fabric softener to clean these aircon components.
3)   Filters should not be washed, they are replaceable items.
4)   How can TOYOTA PASONG TAMO claim that the car was changed oil, when
all other items raised were not done during the first service request. 
5)   Their service is bad; the interior should have been protected. A
few thousand peso savings is not worth it. 
6)   Toyota must have informed the public of the aircon design lapses,
just like the cigarettes warning to its smokers.
7)   TOYOTA PASONG TAMO service at its worst 
8)                     The car is still in the Dealer's possession,
UNDER EXPERIMENT.
 
 
 
YOU MAY NOT BE AFFECTED, BUT THIS WARNING MAY SERVE YOU SOME OTHER TIME.

THIS MIGHT HAPPEN ONCE IN EVERY THOUSAND UNIT OF VIOS. BUT IT HAPPENED
TO MINE. 
 
 
THINK TWICE WITH THE NEW TOYOTA 2008 VIOS. 
WATCH OUT.
