Follow-up Comment #1:

Done in svn 1472.

I moved displaing of the message to a function in WeaponLauncher that gets
called every time a shot misses (hits the ground).
The message is only displayed if the new variable "announce_missed_shots" is
true, which is the default (so that gun and sniper rifle work normally).
Shotgun displays this message, if ALL bullets missed. If one bullet hit a
character, the message is displayed.
Submachine Gun also displays the message only if every bullet misses.
