Follow-up Comment #3, bug #11927 (project wormux):
Summary of the previous commit: verify before anything that there is enough
data to at least read the message ID. The diff blocks for this are l313 and
l327, the rest being cosmetical changes.
I was at first puzzled to see the return being "true" on failure, but the
function "returns false if client must be disconnected", so this is OK.
Commits r4700 and r4701 may also improve the situation by better tracking
file descriptors and setting timeouts on them.
