The "new page created" is a clue to Codex volunteers to jump on that page...well, once they've let the docs mailing list know it's ready for attack, which you should do.
We've had problems with people jumping as soon as they see any clue that the page is ready for attacking. That's why we instituted the "contact the docs mailing list" as an additional method of saying, "Go. Hack away!" Lorelle
