I'm brand new to the list and to the WP localization process. I intend to be working with Ndesanjo Macha (http://digitalafrica.blogspot.com/) on a Kiswahili (Swahili - Tanzania) version. Is anyone aware of existing work in this language?
Also, are there important references that I should be aware of besides the main codex page?
That is, < http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language >
One last question: how difficult is it to get a translation working? I have experience with Wordpress and php, and I'm working with a Kiswahili-bilingual (fluent) partner. Should we expect 2 weeks development or 6 months?
Thanks!

I still can't find a proper way to get TinyMCE translated into Spanish.
I've added all the es.js into the /lang directories and them modified
tiny_mce_gzip.php, changing all occurrences of en.js to es.js, but that
doesn't seem to be the best method, because we'll have to make a whole
Spanish distribution in order to get the whole interface translated. Is
there another way to do this?

I'm supposed to be the maintainer of the Esperanto translation, but
I've never been able to connect to the database. The reason is that
noone ever told me how to do it. Are there any explanations anywhere
how to log in etc? (Actually noone even informed me that Subversion is
being used.)

There is no page with full info, but on this list these infoes passed
a lot f time. To access to the SVN you will have to use the same login
you use for support forum on wordpress.org, but you hve to ask, here
to be abilitated to commit. You will get access to your locale tree
and you should have to use an appropriate software o commit you files
(ex. Tortoise on windows is a good choice).

Subversion is mentioned in the Download page of the WordPress site,
section "Subversion Access":
http://wordpress.org/download/svn/
There is documentation also at codex:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Subversion
If you need more information, you can visit this complete page:
http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/svn-book.html
Anyway, if you find to tech to upload esperanto's files, i suppose the
person in charge of Subversion could do it for you.
Best regards,
Txopi.
