I didn't think Nikolay's call for bata testers was a direction toward mandatory migration to wordpress.org site. Correct?
Although Japanese WordPress community currently has a very mature localized community site (http://wordpress.xwd.jp/) with an official blog, codex documentation, and forum of its own. However, these are all running on a shared hosting service (paid with out-of-pocket money of WordPress Japan organizer) and the capacity to handle request load is exceeding sustainable limit - especially for codex and forum. With this move, we are trying to consolidate resources & documentation links to make it easier for all Japanese-reading users to find what they need. So that's some of the reasons we want to move to .org domain. I am really interested in how others are handling localization. Though I'm not advocating for mandatory move to .org domain, I think having a similar format for different locales can promote better sharing of ideas/best practices among international communities.
