The solution you gave is much better. But let me suggest to change the color
of the text? It's too dark and depending on the screen contrast/brightness
settings it's quite impossible to read it. I know the intention is to keep
it very discrete, but this way it's too discrete. I've heard people
complaining about it. And since WP claims to be a platform with focus on
usability...
