Yes we need to look at trimming and compressing all that. We've got a
fair amount of JS now.
Although reviewing JS code use is a good idea, my message's central idea
was that all of these ideas about adding Ajax delete/rename buttons to
the category list on the Write page and all of the back-end
functionality required to support them (like, moving posts in deleted
categories to a new category) are likely to take a lot more work than
the questions that suggest their inclusion imply.
If anything, I think there should be more javascript.
