I also think that it seems premature for the RC label, but in the
end, it's just a label. The main thing is that we should make sure
the major issues are fixed, and that any new code is given adequate
time to be tested. At long as no code is checked in at the 11th hour
and the major issues are fixed, you can call it Tango Bravo Gamma
Monkey Island 2006 XP Gold Edition for all I care ;-). I think it is
just the usual connection between "RC" and an imminent release that
has people worried. As some may recall, 1.5 was rushed a little bit
at the end, and suffered from a few major bugs that came out a few
days later.

There still seem to be some major issues cropping up. I don't spend
that much time in Trac, so this observation is just based on watching
these mailing lists.
Approximately 952 lines were added in the past 24 hours, not
counting lines removed. These lines haven't had that much
opportunity for testing. In fact, it's only been 10 days since the
beta.
Things have been changing so fast, it's a wonder there's any time
in-between for testers to review the code. I'm really shocked to
see an RC label on this code.
