So, if I happen to have the editor turned on and edit a page with
nontrivial markup, it's going to tweak it behind my back?
Don't like editors that change things behind my back!
I'll probably avoid it, then, unless I can switch it on/off from the
edit screen.

No, and I think the feature got shelved for 2.0... but it is one that
I want, so I'll probably write a plugin for it at some point.

Didn't know I could...I see it in options now. That does solve the
immediate problem.
Is there a way to turn it off from the write/edit page screen?

Something I've taken great advantage of in wp 1.5 is the ability to
write general html where I need to, especially tables. In 1.5
create a page or post with
asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf asdf
and I get just what you'd expect:

into the 2.0 html editor and saving, and everything looks ok:

page with the 2.0 html editor and saving again, and the markup is
tweaked: http://morison.org/blogs/rod/table-test2-bad/ WYSIWYG is
not WIW (What I Want). Rod
