I have seen the same problem as Jason Bainbridge.
After you installed SK, did you leave a sample comment?

It will show the a proper tally of all comments made previous to SK being enabled.
After SK is enabled WP no longer tracks the comments.

If you did leave a sample comment and your SK install was fresh, maybe that is a temp answer to the problem; a fresh SK install.

That's entirely different.

breaks does anyone know? I only noticed this in the last week or so
maybe less so it seems like something that shouldn't break this late
in the game...
Are you updated to RC1 or are you updated to 3239?
