I did this because, as I sent to the list earlier this week, the last few times I ran an SVN update it bombed my site as it couldn't find the wpdb class and I was tired of doing that on my live site and then go back and unroll the changes. I have a beta site that I typically do development with and noticed the SVN updates did not have the same effect there. So my thought was to get an EXACT replica of my site under the beta subdomain and start narrowing down what was going on.
In doing so, I ended up with a vicious circular circle of www pointing at beta and beta pointing at www (stupid mistake on my part) and when I went to modify the databases, I KNOW the database options table reflected the accurate locations for 'home' and 'siteurl', but these changes were NOT being reflected on my site no matter how many times I flushed my browser cache, etc.
I'm positive this had to do with the wp cache but for the life of me I couldn't find the emails discussing this. I would like to know how to completely DISABLE the cache on a temporary basis.

I just upgraded my test install to the 9-12-2005 nightly(latest at the moment) & I tried to changethe URL etc., but was having problems as I was getting the old URL, till I figured it was a problemwith cache & I deleted the folder & files & only then it worked properly. I couldn't find anything inthe admin section by which I can flush cache whenever I want. can anyone tell me if there's a way
to flush cache or turning it off? it would be better if a cache management page is created in the admin.
PS: please excuse me for being a dunderhead & if this is something that's been answered before,I'd appreciate if you can send me the link to the thread(in archives) to my email instead ofreplying to the list.------------
