Gallery just released their own appliance and have gotten lots of positive feedback. they use rPath linux or something.

Hello testing co-conspirators, With vmware server [1] being gratis software now for Linux and Windows, I would love for us to roll some virtual machines (VM) images for the various WordPress server configurations. Starting with the more common configurations. An example is ALMWork's VM for Buzilla.[2] Of course, it is not appropriate for us to share VMs of proprietary software such as Microsoft Windows.
