As someone who spent four years specializing in database backup and
high availability for enterprises, at the level WordPress is operating
it IS the same thing. The format of the export is effectively
cross-blogging platform (arguably more so than a db backup considering
XML parsing tools being more readily available ) -- oh, the evil!
You raise legitimate concerns, but your reaching and poor manners
distract from them.
