A discussion has been ongoing in the wp-hackers list, but since it has
to do with testing, the thread has been copied here. To summarize what
has been discussed so far.
#1. A number of errors has been fixed with the latest revision. That is
good.
#2. There might be an issue with the Filesystem FTP picking the wrong
folder for which WordPress is installed. Any updates on if this is the case.
#3. Right now, confirmed issues has been on Dreamhost hosting accounts.
Any testers trying to upgrade on another host and having problems or not
having problems? It makes sense to post that you are not having problems
and what steps you are taking, so that the rest of us, who are having
problems can double check ourselves against a working example.
#4. Right now, since the majority of problems have been fixed, there is
a weird 404 error after entering the FTP information, where it will
immediately redirect to a 404 page with this type of URL:
http://www.santosj.name/wp-admin/update.php?action=upgrade-plugin&plugin=altmailer/alt-mailer.php
Any information on why this might be and if the cause is separate of the
Filesystem is appreciated. One way to test this is to see if
activating/deactivating or plugin admin pages are also redirecting to a
404. The "update.php" file does exist and there is no apparent reason
for it to go to a standard WordPress 404 page with that URL.
Steps to reproduce:
a) Go to plugins administration page with a plugin which needs to be
updated.
b) Clicked the "update automatically" link.
c) Filled in the fields for the FTP informations...
d) Hit the button.

DD32 is currently the man, the master who is handling issues. Any
additional information will be helpful to figuring out the issues above
as well as any other issues.
