I would argue the Nightly builds are slightly more stable because at the very least, you can assume that all the changes that needed to be committed that day are finished while the Trunk may have people currently working in it.
But you could also argue that any major issues that cropped up from the preceding day were probably fixed in the Trunk. So caveat emptor.
