Changing the default doesn't really help. Then all my posts will end in the wrong category rather than none at all.

Others have reported this problem, and it wasn't an issue when the category selection was right next to the input box. Instead, right now, there are a bunch of "related posts," "edit all posts," etc. links that I'll never use in that spot.

It's not a big deal, WordPress is a great product either way. But it does make it less usable.

The new way is terrible. Every single post has a category or a tag, and putting the input for them off the screen makes for too many posts in 'uncategorized.'

You can change your default category (at least you could in 2.3.3 - and with
the upgrade, my default is what I set it to under 2.3.3) to whatever
category you want.

I want the bottom half of the write post/page section to be customizable
though, at least be able to drag and drop sections to rearrange.
