I disagree because I could make the same argument for the tinyMCE interface.
Indeed you could, a strong one actually.
I never use tinyMCE, but I much prefer the flash uploader to the old methods.
So you would just install the flash upload plug-in then.
However, it should be able to be disabled in the core the same way tinyMCE can be.
