The change was in /wp-admin/includes/template.php
You can get a copy of the latest version via http://trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk//wp-admin/includes/template.php (Links at the bottom of the page) allthough to be honest, Theres not much to test :) You might be better off and getting the next nightly version which includes all of the commits from the last 12 hours.

On my local server, I receive the same error:
http://localhost/trunk/wp-admin/$first

However, on the WordPress demo site, this function appears to be acting
normally. http://wp.chrisjohnston.org/wp-admin/post-new.php

when I am in the admin section and I try to add new post using the
button in the upper right hand corner it sends me to to my blog page
with a 404 error this is the actual url I get.
myblog.com/wp-admin/$first

dunno if this bug has been reported or if it is just happening to me
