If the stats originated from WP, then it would make sense.
But since the stats are hosted on wordpress.com, it makes a lot less sense, It would just change the traffic from wordpress.com => Browser, to WordPress.com => Your host => Your browser, both increasing the load time, and you wouldnt get the advantage of the HTML loading in stages like you do with a browser. Then you've got the authentication issues, Your server would have to know your wordpress.com credentials in order to access your stats.. etc.

all in all.. a iframe suits better.
