2.8 development is underway. The media module on the post editor screen
won't make it into 2.8, but will be reconsidered for 2.9. Survey regarding
new features for 2.8 is up, post about it on dev blog at

Anyway to add this to the list Jane?
Make 'object' IDs (like Category ID or Page ID) available as a screen option
for the various Edit screens.
