Thats all you have to do on 99% of servers. on a small selection of servers, the underlying functionality which the future publishing system relies on (wp-cron) will fail to fire.

Do plugin installs/upgrades work on your server?

You can try adding define('ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true); to your wp-config.php file as a last resort.. but there are potential causes which can be fixed before requiring that

hi,

i have tried to use the function to publish the post at a later date several
times and was unsuccessful with it.

i have not used it before those attempts. are there issues with it or am i
missing something with setting it up?

i just selected the publication date and time of the post for the future in
a straight forward manor.
