You'll see a changeset such as [12345] (which would link to http://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/12345) posted in a comment by one of the committers if that were the case, and the ticket (if complete) would be closed as "fixed" on the milestone the change would be in (currently we are on 3.0.1 and 3.1).
