a last word about "Microsoft.XMLDOM" vs "Msxml2.DOMDocument.3.0":
I am back to use "Microsoft.XMLDOM".
On my XP it made no change (yes, the errormessages for faulty xml did come up). I will check the behaviour with some other systems too but it might not be this week.

hmm, interesting.
so maybe we should revert to the older version (as the newer is only supported with IE 6.0)?
