I can use wpkg-start.bat to install applications with a minimal user interface
(i.e. a progress dialog, such as is available with Inno's '/SILENT'), rather
than completely silently, without problems.
Doing so using the WPKG Installer service, all my applications' minimal user
interfaces are broken in various but similar ways and there appears to be at
least 1 application that prompts when it didn't when started as above.
For example instead of a progress dialog you get the graphical icon of the
application as shown in some installer's top right hand corner and just the top
edge of the border of the window below it - I'm having this problem with GIMP.
Some application installers have problems enough to have the installer make a
prompt for user input, that they didn't have when run from wpkg-start.bat. In
such cases their dialog box is visually corrupt, you get the outline of their
window but the contents aren't displayed, if you press [Enter] with such a
window selected the installer continues. An example of this is Nero BurnRights
(whose window title is 'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library').
Another example of an application whose interface is visually broken in that
only the outer window border is displayed and not the contents, is the
Ghostscript installer (which isn't a silent install, because I don't know the
silent install options for it).
I've tested this on a fresh installation of Windows XP SP2 with the most recent
Autopatcher updates on 2 seperate machines.
