I have sort of modified version 0.9.10 to use this, but would like to have it in the normal version. I am logging to a text file on my samba server so that I can track the installation success/failure from one location. I was able to put the bits of script into the various locations of wpkg.js without any problems. The only thing I really had to do was to disable the check for /quiet on the logging.
