The next version of the installer will have features similar to what you
describe.

You can download a prototype here:

http://wpkg.org/files/beta/installer/wpkg-installer-0.90-pre.zip

It allows to delay user logon by a number of minutes, while packages are being
installed in the background (user can't log in).

As of what you describe in 1-3, I don't think something like that will be
implemented anytime soon, for many reasons.

It's a bit tricky to forcibly log the user off. Think of all lost, not saved
documents etc.

It seems to me that installing all software when the PC boots is a good choice -
there are almost no programs started, so we can easily remove/replace almost any
software or files we want. With users logged in, it's not possible (file locks
etc.).

Someone says that there are servers/workstations that are never powered off.
This is a good reason, but Windows already has a Task Scheduler, I don't see a
reason to duplicate it. You can easily run WPKG via a Task Scheduler, say at 3
am each night.

If you need to run software in user context, start WPKG from user logon scripts?
But I'm not sure if that's what you mean.

WPKG Installer allows you to run the installers totally in the backround (users
don't see anything is being installed), or in the foreground. Running installers
in the foreground may be a choice for you.

So, for now, I'm closing the bug.
