I found some examples on the wiki (http://wpkg.org/index.php/KB898461). The package name reported is still null, but I'm getting the software to execute now.
Part of the problem was the <install> section didn't have a terminating </install>. I also found on the wiki that %SYSTEMROOT%/KB#####.log is probably the best method for determining if a patch is installed. --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru.
