Hello,

This would be a fantastic project as we have been using OCS-Inventory
and GLPI for over a year now and are in the process of rolling out WPKG.
This will truly be powerful open-source software for everyone to use in
any workplace. Please keep the list updated on your progress.

Cheers to all three projects!

Hello,

We're actually working on an asset management project for a french
administration. We use with OCS-Inventory[1] to get hardware and
software inventory from the computers. GLPI[2] is the asset manager. We
use them to follow the license stock and the hardware status of an
import
amount of machines. Both work very well and now we
want to improve the system by adding software deployment for the Windows
workstation. After looking at different solutions, we found that wpkg
seems to be the most suitable alternative for our needs (light and
powerful).

Unfortunatly, because we use GLPI as standard interface we can't use
wpkg_web. That's why we'll probably need to write a GLPI plugin instead.
We are already in touch with GLPI developers (one of our team member is
a SVN commiter) and in order to respect there wishes, we need to do very
modular interface to allow to plug others deployments systems
(OCS-Inventory,
yum, apt-get/aptitude, ...).

Before begining to write it, we are still waiting for an acknowlegment
of
our managers but, today, wpkg covers needs at 99%. There is just tow
thing we
want to contribute:
*After an installation we need to have the status returned by wpkg to
report
it in the interface. Do you think it possible to do an HTTP POST of a
well
formated XML status file the end of the process?
*We actually use rsync to publish the packages on the differents mirrors
and
we want to be able to validate the packages with a checksum. We can
create a
home made script for that, but we think this information should be
suitable
for an inclusion directly in the XML, and then be validated by the wpkg
script before the installation.

We are strongly commited to share as much code as possible with
wpkg_web. Do you think it is possible to work on a PHP library in common
for that?
We notified the Jabber page on linuxkidd.com. Feel free to as us in your
roster:

Best regards and thank you for the great work done so far!
