--- Comment #62 from Rainer Meier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 2007-11-24 01:29:05 --- > I haven't had the chance to try the latest builds yet It's a great pity ;-) > but atm everything I wanted should be implemented now. Great, goal reached. > The only thing that bothers me a little bit are the strings "install", > "upgrade" and "remove" for the commands.. I'd prefer if they were called > "install", "update" and "uninstall". Or is there a special reason why > they are called that? I don't have an english version of Windows at > hand so I can't check what they are called there. Yes, the reason is there. It's called "history" ;-) No, forget about that, I usually would really blame somebody trying to justify a fact by historical reasons. But I am working on an english Windows currently and just verified the labels there: - Software removal is called "Remove" (at least the button within control panel => Add or Remove Programs) - About "install" you did not complain. - For "upgrade" you're right. 'msiexec /?' displays parameters /update for software Update (not "upgrade") >From my point of view I can perfectly live with that. I could try now to write some phrases about update and upgrade but there is only one location where I remember that there is an absolutely clear difference. Debian Linux uses 'apt-get update' to "update" the local package database (without actually installing anything) and 'apt-get upgrade' will do the actual software "upgrade/installation". Anyway I think thats out of the scope currently... Let's get that beast released first ;-) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.wpkg.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
