I am closing this report since the task scheduler allows an easy way to achieve
the requested functionality. No additional software is needed.
Especially the task scheduler allows detailed configuration when the task
should be executed. As proposed by Tomasz scheduling at night hours would be a
good idea probably. Users who log off will update the software when they start
the machine in the morning. Users who stay logged in will have the machine
running during the night (but most probably not using the machine at all).
