good rant, Alan.

I gave up posting to Poetics long ago, and gave up reading it more
recently. you have to be a greater irritant than I am to be noticed on
that list (like you, like Ishaq), and then it's only so overflowing
reponders can natter this and that, trivial pursuit. I remember the list
when it bubbled but the growing bureaucratic contingent muzzled the
voices and deflected the exciting stuff. the list was left to fussy rule
makers and, as you say, event annoucements. Poetics has become a nice
suburban neighbourhood with PTA parents keeping a look out. and god,
let's not have poetry on the Poetics list. let's not even have poetics.
I guess one shouldn't give up as I did, but that kind of determined
mushiness is hard to stop. here's better.
