LQ,
If you want a tiny taste of what QTtext can do, here’s an extremely
simple program I wrote in Perl tonight that automatically generates 60
screen-pages of random QTtext filling a 720x480-pixel movie screen at 1
screen-page per second. (I definitely don’t consider this a finished
work in itself, but I have in mind that it one day may become,
substantially sped up, a kind of background noise texture for a future
text-based movie.)

Yes, I see the technique actually has a name, qtext.. I thought it
was
my own little find! Ah well, that's what happens when one never reads
the manual.

I've been doing this for a long time. A major step is to adjust the
timing
of the lines. Peachpit Press books give the lowdown on all the
options.
Btw if you don't know, you can also drop an image directory in with
the
same results - Alan

Maybe this is old news to some of you, but I made an interesting
discovery today. Any ordinary text file can be imported into
Quicktime
and instantly made into a movie! Each line of the text file is
turned
into 1 to 2 seconds of movie time. You then can export the movie,
and
then import it as text into a word processing program and adjust
all
the usual font settings like size, type, color, etc. You can even
adjust the size of the movie &/or font indefinitely without losing
any
quality or producing unwanted alias effects. All of this is fast,
easy,
and simple enough for a non-programmer to figure out! Wow!
