i think some of the reasons that "suicide" bombings have taken hold in the world is due to the high "background" mortality of wars and other human catastrophes that claim lives at random. the risk of death is continually there. noone can completely count on not becoming a statistic, a body count, and in the end we all will have our final accounting with our bodies and the world, but even still, they are, i believe MISSING THE POINT, missing the reasons for making this world a little bit more magical, making it a little more interesting, and hopefully finally cooperatively, when this ABUNDANCE, that science has sold us on finally is allowed to blossom, and maybe this needs to come from voluntary de-expansionism, re-writings of social contracts, creating economies that don't rely entirely on money, can't we get creative? everyone to be able to have their "thing" somehow, whatever variety of things anyone can become, hell maybe mix things up, create multi-streams of values, valencies.. i never seem to stop being amazed at the things that people learn to create, the ways they work out their problems, in life, the arts, the responses to stimuli, the ability to inject meaning into the flotsam and jetsum of the world. volcano sculpture? why not! use technology to create new expressive capabilities. direct taps into psychological states: electrosensationalism! stimulo-dialectica! applied field ec.
i am sold on the world! let's buck up and ride!
