Marsupials' Waltz*

Never stop dancing.
Invite some birds in
For a turn.
Maybe they'll teach you
How to fly.
Be kind to those
Who've forgotten how.
Teach them to dance, anyway.

A pilgrimage to the womb
Is advisable only for some.
Open your mouth slowly
And give me life.
If your ballet is clumsy,
Start it over again.

Move closer to the center for warmth
Or further away for more air.
Roll your ball of fur beside you.
It is your life extension
So be careful.

The mother of all lizards
Is a closer relative than you think.
Father hatches an egg
And is rewarded
For this difficult role.

Abandon frost, all
You who exit here.
This crowd scene
Looks for comfort, too.
When old father sea calls,
Do you recognize his song?
So stretch your wings and soar.
Can you remember how to cry?
We ask you to fly, instead.
Clean your coat
And move on inside it.
