Subject: [silence] You Won't Hear a Thing, You'll Hear Everything
The Chicago Composers Forum September 25, 2005 Musicircus production at the
Museum of Contemporary Art featured over 500 performers and over 4,000
spectators making it one of the largest Musicircus events ever!
David Patterson, John Cage historian writes:
As a musicologist specializing in the works of Cage, I was tremendously
impressed with all aspects of the production. The performers represented a
true diversity of arts and styles; the sheer number of performers made it the
largest Musicircus in history (as I’m sure you already know); the audience was
clearly enthusiastic and curious, even interacting with the performers on
occasion (I myself spent some time introducing a gaggle of children to the
autoharp); and the performers I spoke with were also genuinely appreciative of
the opportunity to use the event as a chance to network.
And Laura Kuhn, President of the John Cage Trust called it "the most exicting
and energetic Musicircus event" she has ever seen.
Original T-shirts and silk-screened posters commemorating the event are
available at the Chicago Composers Forum website:
