-----Original Message----- From: Carter, Karen Sent: 05 December 2005 01:43 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: cfp I am posting this call for papers for a friend. Please respond to Paula Lee whose contact information is listed below. Karen Carter Assistant Professor of Art History University of North Florida Papers are invited on the subject of "The Liquid Beast: Drinking the Animal Body." This collection of papers is intended to complement a forthcoming special issue of the peer-reviewed journal _Food & History_ (Institut Europeen d'Histoire d'Alimentation, Tours, France/European Istitute for Food History, UK.) Depending on the number and quality of the submissions, a scholarly anthology will result. This volume will address the blood, milk, sweat, semen, and fat of the animal, which is not conceived as a material object but as an abject subject. Papers need not focus on the food uses of these liquids, but must be attentive to cultural categories, the process of symbolic transformation, and the hierarchy of bodily parts. Please submit 500 word abstracts along with CV by February 15, 2006 to Paula Lee, School of Art and Art History, College of Visual and Performing Arts, FAH 110, 4202 E. Fowler Ave, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL 33620, USA; e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
