i am John Lowther i just signed on to this list it was recommended to me
i am a poet in atlanta ga part of the atlanta poets group (apg) for going on 9 years now i edit a small press called 3rdness (a charles peirce reference) used to edit a magazine called 108 which i hope to get restarted in time & currently the APG is editing a new mag called LEMNISCATA (don't send me poems now please) i'm very interested in Freud and Lacan and some of the analytic and other types who seem to owe a bit to them like Zizek, Ranceire, Badiou etc i am also in analysis with a lacanian and hope to be an analyst someday (which is to say i hope i get thru analysis) lately i have been making baby steps toward Hegel i am also interested in aesthetics and read a good bit in that area lately this may be on account of my writing some things recently for an art mag called INTERREVIEW about artists Dario Robleto and Andrea Bowers the issue is about to come out but if anyone is curious about either i'll backchannel you my essays (i like both but Robleto really truly blows my mind) in the poetry realm some central reference points are Antin, Andrews, Hejinian, Cage, Zukoksky, Spicer & back a bit Stein, Joyce (of the wake) i also like Richard Foreman a great deal and after 1st reading his work i wrote 3 plays and 4 parts of play in a huge manic rush i'm not very savvy about new media poetry stuff not anti- by any means, altho it seems i have had a hard time finding the good stuff or perhaps i just don't get what i do find after more than a decade since i dropped out of grad school (u texas austin - asian studies program) i am about to go back in phd prog in english where i will focus on theory shite and where (lucky for me) contemporary poetry is not an option thus protecting my true love from the job anyhow that's me jlo
