A Newer World*
I need a newer world
Than the one I supposedly inhabit.
Where do I look?
Outer space is out of my budget.
How far does my scale slide?
Old maps don't take us
To new places, even inside us,
Very often.
The essential departure is missing,
The knowledge of who I am
And who you are.
Don't kill the garden in me.
Weave all things together
And see what a quilt emerges.
Take out the thorn.
Lie together in it's shade
As the sun allows.
A tree will surely answer.
See and feel all
That you do not know.
Even we cannot reverse the past
Except as it recurs in our minds.
