Here's the original image used as source. You can see how the placement of red, yellow and blue in the source image is subtly referenced by the transformed image.

An extreme reduction (40x40 pixels) of a painting by Mondrian is the source of this work.

The process involved here divides the image (H,V) down the middle, then places the original pieces of the image in each of the 4 corners of the new space. It then smoothes between the pieces along (H,V) over a specified sequence of gradations, in this case 300, resulting in an image that is 300+X the size of its source.
