Global Leadership Summer Institute
for Teachers

The Global Leadership Summer Institute is a
5 day workshop focusing on effective strategies to build a democratic
classroom. Students enrolled in a Global Leadership classroom learn to become
agents of social and environmental change through project-based service
learning and leadership skill building in the classroom.

Global Leadership is both a methodology and a course designed to empower and
engage high school students to take ownership of their learning classroom and
world.
In a Global Leadership classroom, students learn about their own role in
creating a sustainable and global society. The class directly addresses 21st
century skills students must develop in order to participate in a global
society: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
The Summer Institute will provide K-12 teachers of all content areas with a
highly effective approach to creating a climate of mutual respect and shared
ownership in which student leaders become engaged global leaders both in and
out of the classroom.
This workshop is be interactive and transformational! Join educators from
around to country to hear from Chris Fontana, co-founder and Executive Director
of Global Visionaries, Vicki Weeks, founder of Global Weeks which creates and
develops global education programs, and Noah Zeichner, teacher at Chief Sealth
International School and experienced Global Leadership teacher.
The workshop will be held at El Centro de la Raza in the Beacon Hill
neighborhood of Seattle.
