Firstly I don't believe this is a ZAlarm problem, or necessarrily a wsftp
problem.
I had the exact same condition with an ISP I used to use.

Are you using thefreeinternet by any chance when trying to upload to your
server?
This isp gave me the exact same symptoms. Ensure you are using passive mode
is my first thought then try one of the free ISPs from a cover disc or
similar, virgin.net or similar and see if you can upload from a new isp.
