The external DB must have clear text passwords. I've complained to Ipswitch
several times about this, and hinted at the idea of using the same mechanism
they have for Imail where there is a user specified and modifable DLL for
the connection, but to no avail.

AFAIK, the need for clear text passwords is not mentioned in the manual,
although it comes up from time to time on this list. Basically you need to
sniff the passwords in clear text and add them to the DB. If you're a small
operation, then forcing a password change progressively for users and
trapping the new clear text one is probably the best option.
