Dear Big Fresh,
We tested Active Edit with "Edit+" and determined that "Edit+" loads one instance
of itself to edit multiple files.

If you start Edit+ when it is not already running, WS_FTP Pro will be able to
automatically detect when the instance closes and upload the target file. If you
start an app like Notepad which always uses a separate instance for each file, WS_FTP
Pro will again be able to automatically detect when it closes. When you start Edit+
to edit a second or subsequent file, either through WS_FTP or any other way, the new
instance of Edit+ finds the one that is already running, and passes the file off to it
and exits immediately. This is very common behavior for Windows applications and this
is why we created Active Edit in WS_FTP Pro.

When an app passes the target file off to another instance and exits, WS_FTP Pro
cannot detect when that instance closes. It shows you the message you saw, and then
adds the file to the "Active Edit" list to help you, the user, upload the file.

To start the Active Edit Manager, choose "Edit Manager" from the View menu, or press
the "Active Edit" toolbar button. (It looks like an E with a pencil through it.)
This shows you the list of current Active Edits, and allows you to do a "One-Click
Upload" to upload the file and end the edit.

Of course we always welcome customer comments on easier or better ways to do things.
