To answer your other question about "Discarding New Request". It sounds as though
you have some failed transfers in your "Transfer Manager". The Transfer Manager may
be discarding requests that have already been submitted but did not complete. Open
the Transfer Manager window. You can do this either by selecting it from the "View"
menu, or by pressing the related Toolbar button.

Also, depending on what version of WS_FTP you have, there may be some tutorials or
getting started guides available in the "Help" menu.
