Alan,

You can utilize the WS_FTP Server event command (or rule in ver. 4.0.x) for "File 
Received". Executing
'attrib.exe +R "%File"' will set the read-only attribute on every particular uploaded 
file, and will prevent users from subsequentially overwriting these files again.
