Title: Message
Ben,
Thanks for your prompt answers.  Yes, I want to run unattended, so I'll check out the script utility.

Barbara,

Do you need this operation to run unattended?  The current behavior of the sync application will prompt the user for the creation of remote folders.  So, if you set the 'path2' value to a directory that doesn't exist, the application will prompt the user asking them if they want to create the remote directory.

If the operation needs to be unattended, I would suggest using the script utility to create the remote directory before running the sync application.

Thank you.  Nowhere could I find this documented.  And I looked in Help and on-line.  Can I ask another question?

I need to create a new folder on the remote site prior to synchronizing.  Can I do this with a control file?  How?

Barbara,

The file format for the sync utility changed in version 7.6.  You can specify an IP address for the remote system.  The value in the control file should be formatted as a fully qualified URL.  (e.g. profile2=ftp://username:[EMAIL PROTECTED])

My question is regarding using a control file with version 8.0 of the Synch utility.  I'm writing the control file outside of the Synch utility, then running it via command line.

Prior to 8.0, I specified the remote FTP site using "S111.222.333.44".  Now, it appears I have to navigate to the site, resulting in code that contains a reference to "MySites".  How do I code the control file so that it does not refer to MySites?  I wish to be able to run this on multiple PC's and don't want to have to make sure everyone has the same site setup.  Obviously, I'll have to have UserID and Password parameters.  Is this even possible in 8.0?  (If not, I'll be sorry I upgraded!!!)
